Vast forests, tranquil lakes – and above them, a magnificent starry sky…
Away from the tourist crowds lies the largest contiguous forest area in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Nestled within it are some of the most beautiful clear-water lakes in Central Europe. White-tailed eagles circling above the forests and lakes, the calls of cranes from the moors, chattering greylag geese on the pastures by the lakeshores, and the bellowing of stags in the autumnal forest… As well as unforgettable nature-watching experiences, this sparsely populated region is also a wonderful place to gaze at the starry sky, as the Nossentiner/Schwinzer Heide Nature Park is one of the regions with the lowest levels of light pollution in Germany.
